		<description>In my case it didn&#039;t help. So I tried:

diskUtil eraseVolume HFS+ test disk1s1

where disk1s1 is the crappy u3 partition. Afterwards you might think you can do an eraseDisk, but this doesn&#039;t work! eraseDisk recreates (magically) this bloody u3 thing.

But you can merge the disks ;-)  :

diskUtil mergePartitions force HFS+ temp disk1s1 disk1s2
